The data representation chart provides a comprehensive overview of the Police Budget for the years 2017 and 2018, showing the sources of income and the categories of expenditure. A noticeable increase in the total budget from £304.7m to £318.6m can be observed over this period.

The National Government was the main contributor to the Police Budget in both years, accounting for 58% and 56% respectively. Local Taxes also saw a significant rise from £91.2m to £102.3m, increasing its share from 30% to 32%. Other sources remained relatively stable at around 10%.

The chart illustrates the Police Budget for 2017 and 2018, breaking down the income and expenditure into different components. It is clear that the total budget increased by £13.9m over this period, reflecting enhanced financial resources and responsibilities.

In terms of income, the National Government was the dominant source of funding, providing £175.5m in 2017 and £177.8m in 2018. However, its percentage share decreased slightly from 58% to 56%. Local Taxes also played a vital role, increasing from £91.2m to £102.3m and from 30% to 32%. Other sources, such as grants and donations, remained relatively constant at around £38m and 10%.

Regarding expenditure, salaries for officers and staff constituted the largest category, consuming £228.5m in 2017 and £219.7m in 2018. However, its percentage share dropped from 75% to 69%. Technology was the second most important category, maintaining a steady level of around £45m and 14-17%. Buildings and Transport was the smallest category, rising from £33.7m to £44.2m and from 11% to 14%.

To sum up, the Police Budget for 2017-2018 shows an increase in total income and expenditure, with the National Government and Local Taxes being the main sources of funding and salaries being the main category of spending. However, there was also a slight shift in the distribution of income and expenditure, with less proportion going to the National Government and salaries and more to Local Taxes, technology and buildings and transport.
