IELTS Writing Task 1

The image shows two types of data related to the graduates of Anthropology from one university: their employment status and their salary ranges by sector. The data covers a period of five years after graduation.

The pie chart reveals that more than half of the graduates (52%) were employed full-time, while 15% were unemployed. The remaining graduates were either working part-time (12%), combining part-time work and postgraduate study (12%), or pursuing full-time postgraduate study (8%). Only 1% of the graduates had an unknown destination.

The bar chart compares the salaries of the graduates who worked in three different sectors: freelance consultancy, government, and private companies. It shows that the government sector had the highest proportion of graduates earning $100k or more (50%), followed by the private companies (20%). The freelance consultants had no graduates in this top salary range, but they had the largest percentage of graduates earning between $75k and $99k (40%). The private companies had a fairly even distribution across all salary ranges, while the government sector had the lowest percentage of graduates earning less than $50k (10%).
