IELTS Writing Task 1

The plans illustrate the current layout and the proposed redevelopment of a university’s sports centre. Presently, the centre is equipped with a gym, reception area, and outdoor courts on both sides. However, the future blueprint reveals a more comprehensive and multifaceted design.

In its existing state, the sports centre is relatively basic. The gym occupies a central position with outdoor courts flanking it on either side. The reception area is directly adjacent to the gym.

Contrastingly, after redevelopment, there will be significant enhancements. The gym remains central but will be surrounded by additional facilities including a pool and sports hall to its right and left respectively. A leisure pool will be introduced in front of the gym while changing rooms are planned behind it.

Furthermore, an expansive lawn area will replace one set of outdoor courts while another set remains intact but relocated to accommodate new structures like changing rooms and sports shop.

The plans clearly show the changes in the layout of the university’s sports centre, highlighting the improvement in its functionality and diversity.

The plans compare the existing layout and the planned redevelopment of a university’s sports centre. Currently, the centre consists of a gym, reception area, and outdoor courts on both sides. However, the future design shows a more elaborate and versatile layout.

At present, the sports centre is fairly simple. The gym is located in the centre with outdoor courts on both sides. The reception area is next to the gym.

However, after redevelopment, there will be significant improvements. The gym will remain in the centre but will be complemented by additional facilities such as a pool and sports hall on its right and left respectively. A leisure pool will be added in front of the gym while changing rooms will be placed behind it.

Moreover, a large lawn area will replace one set of outdoor courts while the other set will be moved to make room for new structures such as changing rooms and sports shop.
