The diagram below shows the process for recycling plastic bottles.
Sample Answer 1
Band 8.5
The diagram illustrates the process of recycling plastic bottles, from collection to production of new products. The process consists of nine steps and involves both manual and mechanical operations.
The first step is to collect the used plastic bottles from various sources, such as households, offices, or public places. The collected bottles are then transported to a recycling center by a small truck.
At the recycling center, the bottles are sorted manually on a conveyor belt to separate the suitable materials from the unsuitable ones. The sorted bottles are then compressed into blocks to reduce their volume and make them easier to handle.
The next step is to crush the blocks of bottles into small pieces, which are then washed to remove any dirt or impurities. The washed pieces are then converted into plastic pellets, which are uniform in size and quality.
The pellets are then heated to form raw material that can be used for production of new products. The final step is to use the raw material to produce various end products, such as new bottles, clothing items, or other plastic-based goods.
In summary, the recycling process of plastic bottles involves nine steps, starting from collection and ending with production. The process requires both human and machine intervention and aims to transform waste into useful materials.

The diagram below shows the process for recycling plastic bottles.
Sample Answer 2
Band 8.5
The diagram shows how plastic bottles are recycled and turned into new products. The recycling process has nine stages and requires both manual and mechanical work.
The first stage is the collection of the plastic bottles from different places, such as homes, workplaces, or public areas. The collected bottles are then taken to a recycling center by a small truck.
The second stage is the sorting of the bottles on a conveyor belt at the recycling center. The bottles are sorted by hand to separate the appropriate materials from the inappropriate ones. The appropriate bottles are then compressed into blocks to make them more compact and easier to process.
The third stage is the crushing of the blocks of bottles into small pieces, which are then washed to clean them from any dirt or contaminants. The fourth stage is the production of plastic pellets from the washed pieces. The pellets are uniform in size and quality and ready for further processing.
The fifth stage is the heating of the pellets to create raw material that can be used for making new products. The sixth and final stage is the production of various end products from the raw material, such as new bottles, clothing items, or other plastic-based goods.
In summary, the recycling process of plastic bottles has six main stages, from collection to production. The process involves both human and machine work and aims to reuse waste and create new products.
