The image shows two line graphs that compare the percentage of households with three types of electrical appliances (washing machines, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners) and the average number of hours spent on housework per week from 1920 to 2019.

It is clear from the graphs that there was a dramatic increase in the ownership of electrical appliances and a significant decrease in the time spent on housework over the century. There was also a noticeable difference in the patterns of the three appliances, with washing machines being the most popular and vacuum cleaners being the least.

In 1920, none of the households had any of the three appliances, and they spent nearly 60 hours per week on housework. However, by 1960, washing machine ownership had risen sharply to over 80%, while refrigerator and vacuum cleaner ownership had also increased gradually to around 40% and 20% respectively. The hours of housework had dropped to about 40 per week by then.

From 1960 to 2019, the percentage of households with washing machines and refrigerators continued to grow steadily, reaching over 90% for both appliances. Vacuum cleaner ownership also rose more rapidly in this period, reaching about 80% by 2019. Meanwhile, the hours of housework declined further, reaching just above 10 per week by the end of the century.

The image consists of two line graphs that illustrate the changes in ownership of electrical appliances (washing machines, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners) and the number of hours of housework per week per household from 1920 to 2019.

The main trend that can be observed from the graphs is that there was an inverse relationship between the ownership of electrical appliances and the time spent on housework over the 100-year period. Moreover, there were some variations in the rates of increase and decrease of the different appliances and the hours of housework.

In 1920, none of the households owned any of the three appliances, and they dedicated nearly 60 hours per week to housework. However, by 1960, there was a rapid growth in washing machine ownership, reaching over 80%, while refrigerator and vacuum cleaner ownership also rose moderately to around 40% and 20% respectively. The hours of housework had fallen to about 40 per week by then.

From 1960 to 2019, the percentage of households with washing machines and refrigerators increased slowly but steadily, reaching over 90% for both appliances. Vacuum cleaner ownership also grew more quickly in this period, reaching about 80% by 2019. In contrast, the hours of housework reduced further, reaching just above 10 per week by the end of the century.
